Review: Erin Condren Life Planner 2016-2017

vsco-photo-1It is crazy that my planner now includes my graduation and first semester of college! Time really has flown by. For all of the big events coming up I definitely need an awesome planner to keep me straight. I am going on six months into my new 2016-17 Erin Condren Life Planner. Since I have been using my new planner for a while now, I have finally formed my official opinion on the new ECLP. 😉 If you haven’t gotten yours yet, keep reading to learn about the changes!

This year, the EC Design Team made some small changes along with some very big ones. Here are some of the differences that you will see between the 15-16 and 16-17 Erin Condren Life Planners:

Various New Design Options-

  • 4 coil color options include platinum, rose gold, gold, and black
  • 3 hard-bound, leather-like, permanent cover options
  • new cover/pattern options
  • choose “personalized” or “non-personalized” on all of the classic covers

On the Inside-

  • 2 color theme options include colorful and neutral
  • re-designed “Keep It Together Folder”
  •  updated vellum cover sheet
  • new quote pages
  • updated “mini months”
  • updated “year goals” page
  • new stickers
  • new “In the Coming Year” section

Coil Color-  In the past, coil color options have been platinum, rose gold, and gold. As soon as I saw the new black coil option I knew for sure that this would be my choice. In addition to the new coil color, there are many new cover design options with the new planners that I just love!

The Erin Condren Team hit home this year with the new design options. Added coil and cover options take personalization and  design possibilities to the next level. I love them for that.

Changes on the Inside- The interior changes made me a bit nervous at first. The three layout options remained the same as last year’s planner. Those are vertical, horizontal, and hourly layouts. One change in the 2017 Life Planners is choice of color theme. If you are familiar with previous Erin Condren Life Planners, I am sure you remember the colorful themes that coordinated with each month. This year, you have the option to go colorful or to go neutral. I loved the new fonts in the neutral themed planner. I liked the colorful planner, but decided the neutral would be a refreshing change.

The decision to go neutral after so many years of being colorful was a hard one to make. I was worried that I would be disappointed by the lack of color. However, change is a good thing and I am so glad that I decided to stick with my decision to go neutral. I don’t know why I ever doubted the EC Design Team. I can easily tell you that I am one-hundred percent #teamneutral! 😉

There are many minor changes in the interior of the planner as well, however, some of these changes are specific to the neutral themed, vertical layout ECLP. (If your planner is a different theme or layout than mine, some of this may be a little bit different for you.)

When you open the cover of your brand new Erin Condren Life Planner, you might notice the thicker sheet of vellum. When you touch this sheet you will notice that this page is a much higher quality than it has been in the past.

If you keep flipping, you will see the new quote pages, “mini months” section, and the “year goals” pages. (These are pictured below.)

Each new month begins with a page for notes, a quote, and a “month at-a-glance” sheet.

At the back of your planner there are note pages, just like the old planner, as well as sticker pages.

One new addition to the back of the planner is the “In the Coming Year” spread. This page shows mini months for the year of 2018 and gives four bulleted list slots per month. The bottom of the page has room for you to make notes.

The “Keep It Together Folder” is thicker than last year’s, and also includes a new perpetual calendar.

You may notice that after the folder, there is no zip pouch in the planner as there was in previous years’ planners. This year, the clear plastic zip pouch is no longer bound into the planner, but separate. This was an adjustment for me, but I ended up really loving the zip pouch being separate.

Even though I was skeptical at first, Erin Condren did it again! Another year, another wonderful planner. I love my 2017 Life Planner and I am sure you would love one, too! I hope this helped! Happy planning!
